Are you a MSc university student chemical engineering with an interest in development of biobased processes? And are you looking for a challenging internship or graduation assignment starting Spring/Summer 2024 for a duration of 16-36 weeks? Cosun RD&I offers you an interesting assignment!What are you going to do?In your thesis / graduation assignment, you will support the development of a novel technologies to make Cosuns production processes more sustainable and cost effective and enable products of the future.

Electrodialysis is an important separation technology within the food and biobased industry. Knowledge on this topic is key to support the Cosun strategy to develop new, sustainable products. In recent years competence on this topic has developed by setting up experimental facilities and methods at the Cosun Innovation Center. There is a need to develop further and identify potential applications.

Your contribution will be to perform a feasibility study for the application of electrodialysis for a case within a sugar beet pulp biorefining process. This involves lab scale experimental work, translating these results into a design and an evaluation thereof.

Who are you?You are a 3rd ,4th or 5th year university student, with affinity for and proven experience with R&D for new chemical processes. You are studying chemical engineering or similar. You are available for an internship, for the duration of at least 16 weeks.

Furthermore we ask:

• A pro-active, independent attitude and drive;
• Affinity with experimental work.
• Affinity with conceptual process design and techno-economic evaluation is a plus.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and/or Dutch

Where are you going to work?Cosun R&D is the knowledge and expertise center of Cosun, situated in the Cosun Innovation Center in Dinteloord. Cosun R&D provides services to the Cosun business groups and their customers by sharing its know-how and experience in process technology, product development, analysis techniques and quality issues. With this knowledge, our colleagues at Cosun R&D help coordinate and initiate research and development Cosun wide. Additionally, Cosun R&D works together with the business groups to develop new and innovative applications of biomass. Our Cosun Innovation Center facilitates in experimental set ups for process analyses, research laboratories, a pilot plant and our very own bakery, for testing new concepts. You can count on a challenging assignment and personal attention and guidance.

Location?During your internship you will be located at our Cosun Innovation Center in Dinteloord.

What can we offer you?The possibility to gain experience within an industry leading sustainability program with experience for a sustainable, plant-based company. You will be working together with our other business groups. We will provide you with an internship compensation of between €695,- and €770- per month. The exact amount of compensation will be based upon your year and level.
